I should know by now it's impossible to read a Wolfe novel once and move on with life, without it exploding your entire reality, forcing you to read it three times without stopping, driving you to fill notebooks with theories and clues, and leaving you weeks later a gibbering, fever-eyed wreck.
Gene Wolfe, you magnificent bastard. This is your first novel??? God damn you.
